December 9, 2016 This is it! The day we moved out of 108 Saddle drive. For the past 28 ½ years this house has been a safe harbor for our family. After a long day at work or school, we could all come to this home and find peace; regenerate. It is the place where we celebrated birthdays, graduations and many holidays together.
So why leave now? It wasn’t an easy decision. But life is a journey, not a destination. This house was part of our journey. The time has come to pack up and move out.
I located a storage unit where all our furniture would go while we are on our boat. Next I needed to find movers. The manager of the storage facility had a few suggestions for me. One was an organization in our community called Brian’s House.
One aspect of this organization is to provide vocational training for mentally challenged adults that will help prepare them for work. This morning 9 hard working men, along with their 4 supervisors, all showed ready to do some heavy lifting!
Sure, we could have hired professional movers, stepped out of their way and the job would have been done swiftly and efficiently. At the end of the day, as Jim and I talked about how the move went, we laughed at the fun we all had and we felt good that we were able to give these men work.
Time for a new adventure, a new challenge!
Mark Twain said “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in you sails. Explore! Dream! Discover!”
