Stephanie and Jim Palmer have been married 37 years, have four grown kids and three grandchildren. They’ve called beautiful Chester County, Pennsylvania home for the last 34 years. Three years ago they bought a 30’ Sea Ray Sundancer and absolutely fell in love with boating and the incredible stress relieving aspects of being on the water. One evening in the spring of 2016, Stephanie came home from work and said “It’s time for an adventure!”
After considering everything from living in the Caribbean for a year to traveling, they settled on living aboard a boat for a couple years … or more?
They sold their house, put the furniture in storage and bought their dream boat in the fall of 2016. After spending one more Pennsylvania winter in a one bedroom rental with their rescue dog Blue, they began living aboard their ‘Floating Home’ on April 14, 2017.
What happens after the first 18-24 months has not been agreed to, but they’re both reading lots of books about people who live aboard boats and cruise the Great Loop. The Great Loop is the continuous waterway that encompasses the eastern portion of North America including the Atlantic and Gulf Intracoastal Waterways, the Great Lakes, the Canadian Heritage Canals, and the inland rivers of America’s heartland.
We hope you enjoy the blog posts, pictures and videos documenting this big (crazy!) new adventure.
